Remote Education

Below you will find details of the remote education provision at Magnus Academy.

All students require access to Microsoft Teams in order to complete homework and should be logging into Microsoft Teams on a daily basis. Students have all been provided with login details which will be in their planners.

There is a wealth of resources provided to students through their class and tutor Teams pages that will support them with independent learning.

If you require any help accessing Microsoft Teams, please use the ‘help request’ form or contact the school directly on 01636 680066 or email sflanagan@magnusacademy.co.uk.

Remote education – what will students receive:

We have a three tiered response to how we set remote education work based on DfE guidance.

Tier 1 is where we are open to all students, but still set remote education work as homework and for those students who need to self-isolate.

Tier 2 is where we are partially open to students. Some students will be in school, but some students will receive their education remotely.

Tier 3 is where we are closed to all students, except the students of key workers and vulnerable students. The vast majority of students will receive their education remotely.

We are currently in Tier 1. We will notify parents if the tier changes.

Below you will find further details of our three tiered response.

Tier 1

School fully open to all students

• All students will receive weekly remote learning homework that must be completed via Teams.
• All students will have access to lesson resources via Teams. For KS3, these will be under the ‘Files’ tab and organised by subject and week in their tutor Team. For KS4/5, these will be in their class Teams under the ‘Files’ tab and organised by subject and week.
• All students will be able to access a bank of subject-specific learning resources via Teams to provide additional work and challenge as required.
• SEN students will receive additional support from the SEN team as required

Tier 2

School open but students attending on a rota basis

For students attending school:
• All students will receive weekly remote learning homework that must be completed via Teams.
For students not-attending school:
• Teachers will upload a lesson and assignment to Teams. This will include access to high-quality delivery e.g. a live lesson, audio provided on the PowerPoint, access to a high-quality video, direction to another resource i.e. from the Oak Academy.
• Teachers will also upload a quiz to assess the learning of students and to allow them to respond to learning gaps.
• If the remote learning is required for longer than a week, students will complete one extended assignment for every three taught lessons and will be provided with feedback.

Tier 3

School closed to all students, except vulnerable children and the children of key workers

• Teachers will upload a lesson and assignment to Teams. This will include access to high-quality delivery e.g. a live lesson, audio provided on the PowerPoint, access to a high-quality video, direction to another resource i.e. from the Oak Academy. In the event of a full school closure, students are likely to receive more live lessons, in-line with their school timetables.
• Teachers will also upload a quiz to assess the learning of students and to allow them to respond to learning gaps.
• If the remote learning is required for longer than a week, students will complete one extended assignment for every three taught lessons and will be provided with feedback.
