At Magnus Academy we view the Sixth Form students as ambassadors and leaders of the whole Academy therefore we have Head Boy / Girl and a Sixth Form Council comprising of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Directors and Sports and Enrichment Director. These students are nominated by the teaching staff and the Sixth Form student body and they go through a rigourous application and interview process to prepare them for the wider world of work.

Enrichment

As part of your Sixth Form experience all students are expected to work towards the Magnus Academy Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) Award. This involves participating in a range of activities alongside your academic studies. The three strands of the award are intended to enhance your potential in interpersonal development through experiential learning.

You will also have the opportunity to give something back to your local community. You may be able to partake in voluntary work or assisting in fundraising for local and national charities. Magnus Academy Sixth Form has an annual nominated charity that the students raise money for, this academic year it will be the Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark.

All Year 12 students complete one week’s work experience at the end of the academic year so you get to experience your chosen career and also build some additional skills to add to your CV or personal statement.

At Magnus Academy you are part of a community of students who benefit from a wide and varied personal, social, health and emotional timetable. PSHA covers faith, morals and ethics, charity and community, sports, drugs and alcohol awareness, sexual health and relationships and driving safety. This will support you through your studies, helping you develop as a young adult and preparing you for a future life as a responsible member of society.
