Chaplaincy

Hello! My name is Megane Ranger and I’m the Chaplain here at Magnus Academy. My role is to pastorally and spiritually support both students and staff, as well as overseeing Christian Ethos across the Academy. As part of this I look after our Young Carers and offer mentoring in school.

You are always welcome to come and have a look! Please email me at MRanger@magnusacademy.co.uk if you have any questions or prayer requests.

Chaplaincy Enrichment

HOPE

HOPE is our weekly Christian Union which meets every Wednesday after school and has students from all year groups. We gather, eat snacks, play games, worship together and learn about Jesus.

Staff Prayer

Once a month we have our staff prayer night where we meet outside of school to share in fellowship and pray for one another.

Events

Every year we hold a Fearfully and Wonderfully Made conference for our year 10 students and a Faith and Leadership day for Post 16 students. We also run a week’s worth of events to celebrate Thy Kingdom Come where we explore different ways of praying.

Flourish

Flourish is a National Church of England pilot to see fresh expressions of church in schools. It is based around five core principles:

  1. Young people’s voices are instinctively at the centre of all leadership decision-making and implementation.
  2. Clearly articulated and shared purpose to grow a younger and more diverse community of Christian disciples.
  3. Strategic leadership partnership between school/college and at least one church community (with appropriate long-term governance and resource commitment).
  4. Intergenerational faith development experiences involving children and their families of all ages.
  5. Worship that is fully integrated into the regular rhythms, practices, structures and resources of the school/college’s vision for flourishing of children and adults.

We have Derek, the Flourish Project Lead, two days a week to implement this at our academy.
