Careers

Welcome to Careers at Magnus

Magnus Academy are committed to delivering the highest quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to all students from year 7 through to year 13, ensuring that all students have exposure to the best opportunities available to support their personal development and ultimately their chosen pathway.

We are pleased to announce that our NEET figures for 2024-25 is 0.8% which is a significant drop from 2023-24 where the figure was 2.4%. This NEET figure is our lowest ever reported figure.

Our aim is that when a student leaves Magnus Academy, they are fully prepared for the next step for success, whatever that looks like for each individual student. Throughout year 11 students receive Careers Guidance and support from relevant professionals to ensure their next step is suitable to their needs.

The carers strategic plan is reviewed annually. Feedback from stakeholders is gathered through the year and we utilise the Future Skills Questionnaire from Compass + alongside the quizzes and questionnaires from Unifrog with all students to help analyse the effectiveness of the careers programme.

To help us achieve this we link our careers guidance to the Gatsby Benchmarks which have been explicitly reference throughout the DfE’s Careers Strategy (January 2023) and the new Statuary Guidance for Careers (May 2025).

These 8 benchmarks are out lined below:

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from carer and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance.

We have a dedicated team of staff to empower our students to make the best choices for their future career paths and to give them the skills to achieve that.
