Year 7 students at Magnus Academy were joined by their family and friends at the annual festive carol concert and Christmas market.

The evening started with a Christmas market with stalls ran by House Captains and Heads of Houses, raising money for different charities by selling refreshments, handmade Christmas decorations, festive games and a tombola. In total, £216.89 was raised for several charities including Beaumond House, Mind, Cancer Research UK and WWF.

During the concert, there were performances by the Magnus Swing Band, and Magnus Church of England Academy Choirs. The year 7 choir led the audience in classic carols including O Come all Ye Faithful, Once in Royal David’s City and Joy to the World! the Magnus Choir, led by Mr Mike Dutton, sang I Saw Three Ships.

Members of staff and year 7 also performed readings from the Bible, with Mrs Martin closing with a thought and prayer.

Thank you to the musical director Mr Wright for organising the event and leading both the year 7 choir and Magnus Swing Band.
