World Book Day 2017
Along with the rest of the world, staff and students at Magnus Academy dressed up as their favourite book character today to celebrate World Book Day 2017.
This year marks the 20th year World Book Day has taken place and students were challenged to do something ‘booky’. We had classic characters such as Alice in Wonderland, Matilda and Sherlock Holmes through our doors this morning and some more modern book characters like Hermione Granger and Where’s Wally.

The main aim of World Book Day in the UK is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading, and giving them the chance to have a book of their own by providing them with £1 book tokens. Children can then use this to buy any of the exclusive £1 books made for World Book Day or to use as money off another book.

All the money we raised today from students dressing up and coming in non-uniform will be used to buy brand new books for our library – so thank you to everyone who donated £1!
