PLC Gardening Project
Magnus Academy PLC are running an allotment style garden. The vision for this garden is that we can produce fruit and vegetable for elderly and vulnerable members of the community. The aim is to provide fresh seasonal produce on a weekly basis. The objective is for our students to ‘give back’ to their local community. We, as a school, want to use this project to build greater ties to the community.
We want this to be a community/family project with support for families and friends of the academy. We are looking to get sponsorship from local businesses but we are also in need of gardening tools and supplies. We have teamed up with Eton Avenue Growers association who have donated all our plants for this year. Gillie, from the association, has been to look over the growing space and has helped to provide a growing schedule along with the plants. Gillie and her team of able volunteers are coming to help to raise our 30ft polytunnel. The polytunnel was sponsored by the Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust.
If you have any gardening tools that we could utilise then we would be very grateful for a loan or donation of them. Any surplus donated tools will be given to a Christian charity that provides tools to third world countries to help them support themselves. We also need wooden pallets so that we are able to provide raised beds and planting tables in the polytunnel.
If you are in a position to help with this project in any way, please call Mrs Cameron on 01636 680066 ext 3202 to arrange collection or delivery of any donated/loaned equipment. All those who donate will be given credit in any publicity that we receive for the project.
