Our Mission

You Can Do Sport is a Multi Sports Academy for Male and Females age 16-19 years.

Currently we offer a choice of Football, Boxing or Netball. Next year we will be releasing Rugby and potentially Rowing.

We deliver a 2 year, full time, sports education programme via an alternative route to traditional Sixth Form or College.

Students have a choice of studying a BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Sport or Double BTEC plus an additional A Level  of their choice. Both qualifications are the equivalent of 3 A Levels. They also have the option to bolt on  industry accredited qualifications such as an FA L1 Coaching or refereeing qualification or England Netball coaching and umpiring.

All our coaches are high profile, former pro coaches who have played, coached and managed at the highest level and therefore have extensive experience and qualifications including, for football, UEFA A, B and Pro licences.

Our coaches include:
Gary Charles (Head Football Coach)
Andy Reid (Assistant football Coach)
Ian McParland (Assistant football Coach)
Paul Hart (Mentor Football Coach).
Connie Xavier (Head Netball Coach)
Carl Greaves (Head Boxing Coach)

We our lucky to call the YMCA, a brand new, £16 million pound sports and community village, our home ground where students get to train on brand-new, top notch facilities including 4G pitches.

Students train for between 8-10 hours per week and Football and Netball students play competitive league matches as part of the Association of Colleges League.

Students all have weekly strength and conditioning and performance analysis sessions with use of our full fitness studio and academy drone.

Additionally we work with students to teach them how to cook balanced, nutritious and healthy meals to optimise their performance and provide them with meal plans. They also have access to our safeguarding and pastoral team and engage in numerous mental health education and awareness sessions throughout the year.

There are no fees to join the academy and we gift the students with a free match and training kit. A laptop is also provided for use whilst enrolled at the academy. We also provide them with a variety of student discounts from local establishments and they are welcome to use the onsite canteen or the kitchenette in their common room.

For those travelling into the academy from further afield, there is a bursary fund to cover a percentage of those costs depending on the distance.

Throughout the two years we invite a variety of guest coaches and speakers to join us from all corners of the sports industry and we enjoy a number of away days to places such as St George’s Park and the Etihad Stadium.
