From Nottingham Local News:
Combined Cadet Force (CCF) commander designate, Michelle Cameron, said: “On the Wednesday in half-term, six of the Magnus Academy CCF took part in British Canoeing 1 Star certificate which they all passed with flying colours.
“They also had the opportunity to do some group stand up paddle boarding and to jump off a pontoon into the water.
“The weather was definitely on our side and a great day was had by all.”
Recruit, Kimberly Taggart, said: “When we had to capsize the canoe, I was really nervous at first, but after I’d done it, it gave me a lot more confidence throughout the rest of the day.
“Also, we showed excellent teamwork skills on the stand-up paddle board. Overall, it was a really good experience.”
Michelle Cameron says more recruits will now face the same challenge, whilst qualifiers will progress onto different tasks including an advanced River Trent experience in the coming weeks.
